New evangelization

It's, it's another thing to actually have an integrated life, to actually live what we're learning at the Institute of Catholic Culture, and that's the re- the kinda challenge that I, I put before you guys today.

I, I, this, this, this talk was originally titled, uh, Blessed Fulton Sheen, Father of the New Evangelization.

And it, and I, and I, I will say this, it, th- s- sure, uh, i- in 1938, they may not have started the Institute of Catholic Culture at Catholic University, but his vision gave rise to an entire generation, an entire movement within the Church.

It is just now starting.

It's like the green grass just on the horiz- just starting to, to, to come up everywhere.

Li- listen to what Pope Benedict says.

He says, "The new evangelization is new not in its content," the, the, right, the, the, the eternal verities, like, right, what, what, what, what Fulton Sheen says.

"New not in its co- but in its inner thrust, open to the grace of the Holy Spirit which constitutes a force of the new law of the Gospel that always renews the Church.

We just have a little bit w- little ways to go before the end of the day, and I just am so thankful that you are still here with me.

We are gonna start with the USCCB Prayer for the New Evangelization.

Name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Open my heart to hear the Gospel and grant me the confidence to proclaim the Good News to others.

Pour out your Spirit so that I might be strengthened to go forth and witness to the Gospel in my everyda- everyday life through my words and actions.

In moments of hesitation, remind me, if not me, then who will proclaim the Gospel? If not now, then when will the Gospel be proclaimed? And if not the truth of the Gospel, then what shall I proclaim? God, our Father, I pray that through the Holy Spirit, I might hear the call of the new evangelization to deepen my faith, grow in confidence to proclaim the Gospel, and boldly witness to the saving grace of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Both of those courses are here in Pennsylvania.

First week of January, I'll be teaching Theology of the Body and the New Evangelization.

You can learn all about that, of course, by clicking the course link in the show notes.

If you're not able to come to Pennsylvania to take our courses, you can always take them online.

And as we like to do, as we always do, we start this with a prayer.

And we are going to start this with a prayer from the USCCB called the Prayer for the New Evangelization.

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Pour out your spirit so that I might be strengthened to go forth and witness to the gospel in my everyday life through my words and actions.

In moments of hesitation, remind me.

If not me, then who will proclaim the gospel? If not now, then when will the gospel be proclaimed? And if not the truth of the gospel, then what shall I proclaim? God, our Father, I pray that through the Holy Spirit, I might hear the call of the new evangelization to deepen my faith, grow in confidence to proclaim the gospel, and boldly witness to the saving grace of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

God, forever and ever.

Her first novel, Grieving Daughters Club by Elk Lake Press, weaves both of those threads together.

Andrea also writes for Wine, Women in the New Evangelization, CatholicMom.com, and is currently working on a nonfiction book on people-pleasing and false virtues.

Outside of writing and serving the Lord, she spends her time with family, teaching history, and volleyball practice.

Very good place to start.

Theology of the Body Level 1, come, and then go to Theology of the Body Level 2, and then take the Way of Beauty, and then take the New Evangelization.

Any of our courses would be a rich blessing, but if you're asking me where to start, I or the Marian Mystery Course.

Theology of the Body, Level 1, we are offering in October here in Pennsylvania.

Bill Dunahee, my esteemed colleague, is teaching that one, and I will be teaching Theology of the Body and the Marian Mystery Course starting November 1st, November 1st to the 6th.

So those are two great starting points, both coming up very soon.

You could also start with Theology of the Body and the New Evangelization, where we go through the Catechism, although we highly... suggest people take TLB1 before they take that.

We wouldn't necessarily turn you away if you hadn't, but we highly suggest you have taken it.
