We've had weddings, we've had holidays, we've had court cases, we've had everything that's been going on in Netball over the last couple of months.
K

And we are here to try and get it all in this one episode.
K

But before we start, of course, I need to welcome back my co-host Kat.
K

It's been, I don't know, since Glasgow Comm Games, I feel like I've been in a bit of a netball void.
K
1:07KatHOST
Like the NSL signings just went on forever.
K
1:11KatHOST

K
1:20KatHOST
I think that was for the signings themselves, even though... what was Giants but are now Sydney Sirens did announce some after the window but I think they were kind of allowed to still announce after the signing window but I quite liked the fact that their window and announcements were a bit shorter because it didn't feel like it dragged on quite as long as ours did like poor Rhinos whether it's their own doing or not but it felt like we were we didn't hear anything from Rhinos and then they were the only ones left and we were a bit fatigued by the time we got that I think

I feel like we moved in last Thursday, so we had the weekend, and we were all talking about, oh, we're going to Netball tomorrow, which was my parents were here, and so that was Friday night.
A

We're talking Netball in the morning, blah, blah, blah.

Netball came around as if it was a huge surprise to her, and she's like, where's my Netball dress? Within five minutes of having to leave.
A
1:39Ami AssigalHOST
Oh, my God, I can't find it.
A
1:41Ami AssigalHOST
I'm like, weren't we having a full conversation about this yesterday? Or did it just dawn on you that Netball was in five minutes? Like...
A
1:50Ami AssigalHOST
What? And then the shoes.
A
1:51Ami AssigalHOST

P
47:38Paul LiistroHOST
His grandson Jason came on back in May, I think it was, and he nominated his pop.
P
47:43Paul LiistroHOST
He said his pop would have some excellent stories about Warian Football Club and Netball Club.
P
47:48Paul LiistroHOST
And actually, I've had a few people get in touch and say they would love to know more about Warian, so...

But they will have referee coaches who sit under World Rugby that will be coaching them through.
M
49:25Maia WilsonHOST
And that would be from Netball.
M
49:28Maia WilsonHOST
It's the host nation that gives you that World Netball umpire coach.
M
49:32Maia WilsonHOST
So I'd assume they'd have the same thing, a South African counterpart overseeing it for them.
M
49:38Maia WilsonHOST
So it shouldn't matter whether you're North or South.

Hey, now, this netball thing, eh? Netball New Zealand are hoping that, well, they've got the support of Moe Brown-Williams to get the league going here, and they're hoping it'll lure the Silver Ferns back.

G
3:22Guy HeveldtHOST
or playing in New Zealand, I should say, or was it all too late? We'll talk to her about that after five.
7 MINS LATER
G
10:49Guy HeveldtHOST
I would say she probably is.
G
10:50Guy HeveldtHOST
Keen to hear from her just about that whole kind of... landscape at the moment and how she feels about it
M
10:59Maia WilsonHOST
well these discussions would have happened prior to last week so this Suncourt Super Netball as well as the um what do you call it Netball Super League in the UK had to have all their teams in by the 31st of August and I would like to think I don't think many of them would actually stay in New Zealand in particular the ones that have gone to Australia, it's seen as this SSN comp is the world's best league for netball.
M
11:25Maia WilsonHOST
So even though I feel like a lot of them would say they want to come home, I genuinely believe deep down if they could get an opportunity over there, there was nothing that could entice you to stay apart from maybe mothers with kids.

There is also a pretty big fixture, well, sorry, what was I going to say? What I was going to say, before I get on to that, was Grace Weckie, who we have later on in the show, who I'm really looking forward to chatting to, because we were keen to get her earlier in the week when we were chatting about it, but still just good to have her on about the shape of netball, and obviously she has signed a three-year deal with the new Sydney team, whose nickname is escapes me used to be the swifts now sirens the sirens thank you very much from one s to the other uh she signed a three-year deal there and that was what last week i think it was that was announced yes and then what earlier this week they come out with the fact that privatization is the way forward for the anz premiership so i'm keen to learn from you would say our biggest name in netball is that fair to say yeah sure yeah i would say she probably is keen to hear from her um just about that whole kind of landscape at the moment and how she feels about it

And Nine covered Netball extensively until they lost it again, and then it may as well have not existed anymore.
