Unfortunately, Mansfield's many affairs led to their estrangement and eventually divorce.

First, there was the well-publicized affair with Italian producer Enrico Bomba and then one with Brazilian-born comedian and singer Nelson Sardelli.

Unfortunately, after the divorce, Mansfield discovered she was pregnant, and in an attempt to save a career, Hargitay and she pretended to still be married.

After a fourth child, Mariska Hargitay, was born in August 1964, the divorce got recognized.

Later, Mariska Hargitay, who became a successful actress herself, discovered that her real father was actually Nelson Sardelli and not Mickey Hargitay.

Hargitay actually received guardianship of all three kids, but they nevertheless continued to live with Mansfield.

Just one month after divorce from Hargitay was finalized, Mansfield married Italian-born film director Matt Simber, but separated from him within 10 months and filed for divorce one year later.
