And I know for our staff, uh, you know, fairly young staff, we're excited to, to learn some new things as well and try to implement them.

One change on the Reign side, you know, Rich Sealy moves on to Vancouver, and we just had Nelson Emerson in here.

Nelly obviously a great guy, and he was, he was around the Reign.

It's not like he's a new face, but new in, in the GM role.

I'm sure, you know, um, you know, Phil and, and Schultz will get together on some of those ideas and brainstorm some stuff.

But, um, yeah, I, PK for sure.

I guess the one reason it never occurred to me, we talked to Nelson Emerson about this a little bit, obviously you can't replicate a guy like Artemi Panarin in the AHL.

If you could, he'd be in the NHL.

That wraps up birthdays.

Today's date in history, sort of an interesting... date in King's history because it's it's weird we're getting into the area where like not a lot of things happen because it's the end of the summer but some things do and there were some interesting details tucked away in some of these so this one I was able to share with Nelson Emerson when we interviewed him uh recently in 2003 Nelson Emerson was hired as a coach's aide and uh it was a few years later that he was hired as an assistant coach and Nelson Emerson ultimately wound up serving in almost every position.

He was coaches aid in the 2003, 2004 season assistant coach from 2006 to 2008.

He's been the director of player development, the director of player personnel, and he is currently the assistant general manager and his duties include being the general manager of the Ontario rain.

So Nelson Emerson has just sort of been, um, everything i'm assuming nick when you ask what are those duties i'm assuming you're asking about a coach's aid based on my conversation with nelson um he was just kind of learning the ropes as as you know behind the bench sort of studying at the side of the coaches i don't know if he was running drills at practice or not it was a while ago but ultimately he did become an assistant coach so i'm going to guess that was a sort of soft lean into the world of coaching and executive work which he has occupied ever since so There's that.

Now, one more birthday.

Kings Reign news, I guess you would say.

As reported by Kings insider Zach Dooley, the LA Kings have named Assistant General Manager Nelson Emerson as the new GM of the Ontario Reign.

Now, Emerson takes over for longtime Reign GM Richard Seeley, who left after this past season to be the assistant GM with the Vancouver Canucks.

Having the NHL assistant GM run the team's AHL affiliate was the norm for quite a while in the NHL.

I think very logically it seemed to be a normal progression in terms of an assistant GM getting hands-on experience running a team and eventually making it more likely that that person could potentially move into the NHL GM job once that general manager left or was let go.

Now, could that be the case for Nelson Emerson once Ken Holland steps down? Is this giving him that first-hand experience that maybe in his mind feel, makes him feel like he's more of an attractive candidate for that job eventually when it comes open? Maybe.

We'll see.

Um, but, you know, it's, it's also, it seems to be, uh, a trend in pro hockey as well.

And as part of his duties as assistant general manager of the Vancouver Canucks, he also becomes the de facto GM of the Abbotsford Canucks.

There was some question early in the summer as to whether the Kings would replace Rich Sealy or whether Nelson Emerson as assistant general manager of the Kings would assume the duties of general manager of the Ontario Reign as Rob Blake had previously when he was the assistant general manager and et cetera, et cetera, and so on and so on.

Generally speaking, assistant general managers are the general manager of the AHL team.

And we just spoke to Nelson Emerson and that is the case for the Kings.

Yeah, it's always unique how teams kind of structure things, right? Because some teams have two, three assistant GMs, one of whom's primary role is to be the GM of Ontario, right? And the Kings for a long time had zero.

And then, you know, Nelson Emerson got promoted to that role, but he was the only one.

It was, you know, Rob Blake down to Nelson Emerson as the AGM.

Same with Ken Holland.
