While that was happening, my understanding is that Neil Doyle was marching up to the press box.

I read the article there from David Snade which obviously he was sitting right there Neil Doyle isn't isn't one to overreact.

So I can only imagine.

Look, whatever people's opinions of Neil Doyle is, and I suppose the senior referees in the country at the minute, we just don't have the pool for these lads to be retiring and nobody replacing them.

It probably is a loss to the league.

One just story on Neil Doyle.

It's not that funny or anything, but coming back from the cup final, I think it was a couple of years ago, we were at the Toll Bridge in Dublin and Ciara was driving and she said, is that Neil Doyle over there? A couple of lanes over.

Next thing I looked over and lo and behold, it was Neil Doyle.

So I whipped out the the bank card and I show it over.

Oh, Neil.

think don't forget the dog got relegated like this a lot of other players left and understandably the club was in a bad place went to other clubs but they're all stuck with them he's married to a local girl there like he knows the town he lives in the town he wanted to stay and get them back up and when Kieran came in I'm sure he valued that like that he stuck around and stayed with the team and he was able to kind of build things around him and make him the club captain there

And one aspect of the game also that was slightly overlooked, but thanks to a report in the Examiner by John Fallon, Neil Doyle quietly retired as a referee.

That was his final game, I suppose.

Referees don't get a lot of praise on podcasts or in different places, but you were giving him a lot of praise before we started here.

Oh Neil Doyle's great I even replied to that on the examiner thing I saw the tweet I couldn't believe it because as you says quietly and that's Neil that sums him up even as a referee and that's why he was so good he wasn't going around kind of trying to be like the big man on the pitch and be over officious and be brandishing yellows in your face and kind of chirping back to you like some of them I hear nowadays he'd speak to you with respect and that's what referees cry out for but to get respect you have to give respect Raph and he was one that would always give respect and nearly not be apologetic but nearly kind of try to explain his decisions if you like and once you hear that you back off straight away you just diffuse the situation whereas it's the fellas that antagonize players and kind of won't speak to them and turn their heads to them they're the ones that kind of get people up people's back so neil doyle i think he's i read in the article and i know neil even since i was playing so that's going back a good few years ago and i think he could be around 20 years but brilliant brilliant referee as well but a brilliant person And when I read that, I was surprised because he's just gone out so quietly.

Whereas I'm kind of sad in one way, not just that he's finishing up the refereeing, but I think he should get a bit of a send-off.

And if that meant finishing out the end of the season and potentially doing an FEI Cup final as his last game and go out in a bit of style that he deserves.

But a great, great fella, a great referee over the years as well, giving unbelievable service.

But no, to be fair, with that one, I didn't pick it up.

Yeah, no, I'd be leaning towards penalty myself.

And it was Neil Doyle.

He gave himself a few seconds to think about it.

But then I looked at the replay of Lee Grace.

It's just like, right, come on.

I just feel, I look at Neil Doyle though, and it's just, he doesn't have VAR, he doesn't have anything.

It's like, if I don't give this penalty, how long does he have in his head to make that decision? If I give the penalty...
