Nehemiah 3

He gets full credit for doing that.

But we read in Nehemiah 3, the names of 38 different individuals and 42 different groups of people that helped rebuild that wall.

Nehemiah had the vision for it, but without people like the men of Tekoa and the sons of Hasenah and the Zadok, we wouldn't even have the fish gate.

And yet that community of 38 individuals, 42 groups of people came together and rebuilt the entire wall in a record 52 days.

And normally when we see a chapter like that, what do we do? We just skim down till we get to next chapter and back into the story again.

But what I find fascinating here in Nehemiah 3, there's 13 chapters in Nehemiah, and chapter three, it's like God slows everything down and He wants us to lean in, to pay attention, and it's like He's putting the spotlight on all these names that were involved in actually the work of rebuilding the walls.

It's like God pays attention to the credits.

He sees people that no one else saw.

Prepare your heart as we explore scripture and delve into the Word of God.

I want to invite you to stand to your feet if you do not mind and turn with me to the book of Ezra, not Ezra, Nehemiah.

Turn with me to the book of Nehemiah in your Bible, please.

Not your neighbor's Bible.

Does your neighbor have a Bible? If your neighbor has no Bible, please lift up your hand.

In case your neighbor didn't come with the Bible, allow them to look in your Bible for today and tell them next Sunday carry your own Bible.

Read with me chapter 2 and verse 17 to 18 and then I'll go to chapter 3 verse 1 to 5.

Then I said to them, this is Nehemiah, you see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned.
