Micky BartlettHOST
25:50
And I hadn't even listened to The Doors version of it.
Micky BartlettHOST
25:52
It was on Need for Speed Underground 2.
Micky BartlettHOST
25:54
I remember one time typing in the line where to get and then it was The Doors version.
Micky BartlettHOST
25:59
I was like, is this in the Zoom?
TomHOST
10:35
He's just, like, 30 years later.
MitchHOST
10:37
Well, yeah, growing up, like, my dad, he used to love playing, like, Need for Speed, especially, like, Need for Speed Underground 2 where you had to time the shifts as you're drag racing down the street.
MitchHOST
10:46
He loved doing that stuff.
MitchHOST
10:46
Now he doesn't.
Trevor BorealGUEST
4:08
We all needed things to do during that period of time.
Trevor BorealGUEST
4:12
And I remembered back when I was a little kid, I loved the need for speed games, especially Underground 2, Most Wanted.
Trevor BorealGUEST
4:19
My first one was Hot Pursuit 2.
Trevor BorealGUEST
4:20
That's where it really started, the very seed.
DanielGUEST
36:06
I went into my research for the game, I had just been going back to all my childhood games.
DanielGUEST
36:10
I had played a lot of Need for Speed Underground 2 and SSX Tricky.
DanielGUEST

And I'm sure there's other ones that I'm forgetting right now, but they were certainly there.
DanielGUEST
36:22
And I just tried to distill all of the vibes that I felt down into one kind of cohesive design language.
CameronHOST
25:29
An arcade racer with a very friendly drift system before, I can't really think of a comparison off the top of my head.
CameronHOST
25:38
I mean, the closest comparison I can say is maybe Underground 2's drift events, which were very different than the open world stuff.
CameronHOST
25:45
Like the car feel was very different.
CameronHOST
25:48
It's not necessarily like he was... balanced so you had drift events but you controlled the car the same way whether you were doing a circuit race or a drift event so this kind of has that underground to drift feel so it's very loose uh and then to initiate a drift you tap the brake which is my preference you tap the brake to initiate the drift the problem is um the the game will end a drift if you straighten the car out sometimes i don't understand so every race and every stage is procedurally generated so it's never going to be the same track again uh you know twice with that comes some other problems that i'll get into in a second but um when you there's a lot of s curves there's a lot of s curves so There's been many times, and if you watch this footage, you'll see, I will take a drift and try to whip it around to kind of get the other curve, and my car will just stick.
MarieHOST

Melissa from Queens.

JamesHOST
45:14
Need for Speed Most Wanted.
JamesHOST
45:15
That has to be in there because it's probably, I think, apart from Underground 2 on the PS2, I think was one of the most or the most popular Need for Speed in the franchise.
JamesHOST
45:26
Either that or
DylanHOST
45:27
Carbon.
Shawn MarinoHOST

You're really jamming.
Shawn MarinoHOST
12:11
And then you have Tony Hawk Pro Skater, which does the same feeling, but it's completely different.
