Pull it in a little bit, focus on play, because now they've gotta start some road trips.

They're going to Canberra for an Ignite Cup game, I believe, and that group, I'm sure Brian Goorjian really wants them to consolidate now because today was the first wake-up call.

Let's get to our next guest, shall we? From the Adelaide 36ers, a loss on Wednesday night in the Ignite Cup.

Uh, they came back strongly but struggled earlier in the game.

One man who featured for four minutes because he'd only just landed and just jumped into the group and hoped to, uh, to get himself nestled into the Adelaide 36ers lineup is our new recruit in Corey Webster, a injury replacement, and we are very welcome to have him here on the show and in our side.

Billed as like a heavyweight clash anytime you see Melbourne and Adelaide on the court, it's always gonna be exciting.

Ignite Cup clash, and like Melbourne raced out to this double-digit lead and you thought, "Oh, they're gonna cruise home here." But Adelaide just woke up late, and they probably left their run a little bit too late.

How did you sorta see it?

Yeah, definitely.

When there was the changes and the roster started building together, what were your expectations coming into this year?

I think just to, to take another step forward, you know? Obviously we all have aspirations to get to the playoffs and win a championship, but I think we just had to understand that we weren't far off, you know, being right there, finishing seventh and then capping off our season with an Ig- Ignite Cup win, which is, you know, it's, it's historic a- and it's, it's both rewarding because, you know, we played for something and we followed through and we won that game and, you know, there's some players that were on that team that are back this year, so I just think the, the transition from that win to this year and how we're playing right now, you know, it definitely, you know, it has some- Um, intention and flow.

So, you know, the, the expectation is just continue to get better.

It's a long season, you know.

You, you can't put everything into one game or one round, you know.

We just have to take the best from the learnings and, and continue to, to try to strive for success.

Can you give us an insight into, uh, how those celebrations went with the Ignite Cup, especially on the Gold Coast, and was there any player in particular that would have won MVP of those celebrations? [laughs]

Uh, this is the Ignite Cup tonight.

Uh, it's normally played on a Wednesday.

Adelaide 36ers were in the final last year.

New Zealand won the thing and got 300K for their worries.

Um, but, uh, how the scoring works tonight, you get a point per quarter you win, and you get three points for a win as part of the Ignite Cup table, and whoever finishes first to second on that table play in a final somewhere in Australia.

We don't know where that is yet, but, uh, yeah, so I think it's a nice concept, don't you?

There's an NBL game tonight in Ignite Cup, the 36ers taking on Melbourne United.
