Israel is treating the new documentary, Naza, by the Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Zohr less like bad publicity than a national security crisis.

Eyal Zamir, chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, pledged to use every tool at our disposal against the documentary, which features anonymous interviews with 24 intelligence officers and soldiers most involved in remote strikes in Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for legislation that would let the state strip Abraham and Zohr of their citizenship.

Israel's cultural minister has asked the interior ministry to investigate them for treason.

Activists and staff members from the far-right party of security minister Idmar Ben-Guvir protested outside Zohr's parents' house, where a speaker called for Abraham and Zohr to be executed and their families' homes demolished, as often happens to the homes of Palestinians.

The official calls for persecution of Abraham and Zohr, who previously made the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land with two Palestinian filmmakers, seem strategically unwise, since they're spurring heightened interest in Nasa.

A press screening I went to on Wednesday at New York's 268-seat Walter Reed Theater was at capacity, and I was told to arrive a half hour early to get a seat.

Much of this reporting, many of the revelations in the film have been corroborated by independent media outlets, whether it is these NASA degrees, like the number of civilians that the Israeli military permits to be killed per strike, whether it is the existence of systems like Lavender and other systems.

I was surprised to see harsh criticism aimed at the NASA documentary.

And for those of you who don't know, NASA is a documentary – made by two Israeli filmmakers, Yubel Abraham, who won the Oscar with a Palestinian two years ago for a documentary they did on life in the West Bank and the apartheid regime in Israel and the drastic differences in each of their lives due to nothing but the fact that one is Israeli and one is Arab.

And then a filmmaker named Rachel Soar.

And I think it just got released or it's about to be released.

And that's what this question is about.

So it says, I was surprised to see harsh criticism aimed at the NASA documentary and its directors from a few prominent people who do great work for Palestinian causes.

Some of the criticism used the same woke language from recent movements like, quote, not centering or believing Palestinian voices.

I would have thought that any effort to get more people to turn against Israel would be welcome, but apparently not.

And that's formatted capital N, capital A, capital Z, capital A, which is a 2026 documentary film written and directed by Israeli investigative journalists and filmmakers Uval Abraham and Rachel Shore.

The pair rose to international prominence when they co-directed the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land about the Israel Defense Forces and settler violence in the West Bank.

He was released shortly thereafter, but has since taken a more reclusive role.

The new documentary exposes the calculated AI-supported targeting of civilians in Gaza in missile strikes by the Israeli military through the testimony of intelligence personnel and soldiers involved in the killing.

Its title, Naza, is derived from the Hebrew military term for collateral damage.

The film was added to the Venice roster a month after the original slate and just days before the festival premiered.

I mean, in a different framework, you know, this isn't a one-to-one thing.

I'm not comparing these people to Brad Lander, but I've appreciated your thoughtful critiques on socials when it comes to NASA and the documentary there as well, because I think I think what gets lost in the ether of at least social media and political discourse on the internet is there's a time and place for certain conversations and certain Overton windows.

That sounds like maybe, yeah, certainly Brad Leder at this was a bit of a red herring or a bit of an obtuse spectacle with where everyone else was at there.

But that doesn't mean that somebody with his...

You're interested in being right.

And those two things are not the same thing.

So when it comes to the NAZA discourse, yeah, it's a tough position for me because, I mean, I guess I'll just proceed on the assumption that your audience will know what we're talking about.
