And a sheriff's deputy in Navajo County is the first one to receive the call.

And then the sheriff hears about it, and the sheriff comes out there.

Now, the sheriff had seen a UFO himself.

And the deputy's cool about it because he's just, you know, he's downplaying it.

Suspected murder.

The Navajo County Sheriff's Office became involved.

Sheriff Marlin Gillespie and Deputy Kenneth Copeland were among the first officers connected with the investigation.

And from the police point of view, the UFO story was not the obvious answer.

He was gone.

Now, from a police perspective, this obviously became a missing person investigation.

Officers searched the area and treated the crew as possible suspects, which is understandable because Walton had vanished and the UFO explanation was obviously extraordinary.
