And really, those were the seeds, not the origin of our industry, but certainly the seeds of independent retailers being able to sell dietary supplements without regulatory independence.

That fight is carried on 50 years later.

And that fight has continued to be led by the Natural Products Association.

There are many trade groups in the industry that have their niche.

We're gonna go into the labs, the DNA testing, the ownership structure of a company that's done something almost nobody in this industry does anymore, and that is stay independent, stay family and employee-owned, and bet on quality instead of marketing.

Uh, uh, the-- started shifting the way in nineteen seventy-six with the Proxmire amendment, uh, where dietary supplements were separated from pharmaceuticals.

And really, those were the seeds, not, not the origin of our industry, but certainly the seeds of, uh, independent retailers being able to sell dietary supplements without regulatory independence.

Uh, that fight has carried on fifty years later Uh, and, and that fight has continued to be led by the Natural Products Association.

There, there are many trade groups in the industry that have their niche.

Dominic Sportelli, a double board certified adult child and adolescent psychiatrist and addiction specialist.

Dr. Daniel Fabrikant, the president and CEO of the Natural Products Association and former director of the FDA's Division of Dietary Supplement Programs.
