Natural evil

Yeah.

That would be in, like, called natural evil.

Okay.

Whereas, um, sometimes the, the other types would be, like, moral evil, you know, people making bad choices.

let's see um let's see some other ones i thought here so um so a review i've recently defended which i think a lot of people at least initially strikes as crazy is the idea that um there's this problem of natural evil which is why do bad things happen that aren't the result of human free will like you know animal suffering before humans evolved or things like that right So philosophers have suggested before that maybe that's due to like the activity of angels and demons or something, you know, the angels messed up and that's what caused this.

But a lot of people have thought that just seems kind of nuts, kind of crazy.

But I recently wrote a paper defending this idea with a co-author where we say we call it the omission theodicy.

But then there's also the evil that happens, famine, plague, you know, things like that, where...

It's a social evil, if you will, a natural, a natural evil.

Yeah.

Well, the Bible explains that that is because God created a perfect world.

That's where I would stand.

I think the air quote, natural evils and natural disasters, things like that, broadly speaking.

Yeah.

There is several types of evil.

There is moral evil and there is natural evil.

And we see that right here in the curse.

There is moral evil, meaning because Adam and Eve sinned, they passed on what we call a sinful nature.

But can't God do something about it? God is still good, and I think there's a lot of times he does do something about it.

We just don't see it, or we're not aware of it.

But then there's natural evil.
