Natural capital accounting

Yeah, really interesting to hear.

Another element of the Climate Action Plan is you've called natural capital accounting.

Can you explain what this means to the listeners, please?

I suppose decisions in most countries are made a lot based on financial reasons.

So this is an accounting exercise.

And I suppose just to stress, it is limited.

So it's not about having natural capital accounting on its own isn't the one solution to capturing, say in inverted commas, the value of nature.

Because one thing it doesn't look at, like it doesn't look at a badger or it doesn't look at a bat roost, because that doesn't supply a service, yet it's absolutely essential that mammals and particularly endangered animals are protected.
