The man tried to hold onto the surfski, but Tony paddled away from him, realizing if his surfski capsizes, they are both going to be in trouble.

Gently talking to the man and encouraging him to float on his back to stay afloat, Tony was showing the man that he only has one leg and that they were there to help each other, but that the man cannot cling onto his surfski or they would both be in trouble if the surfski capsized.

A search operation was launched yesterday after reports that the kite surfer may have overshot Virginia Beach while kite surfing.

The NSRI and Metro Police Search and Rescue responded to the incident.

The woman was later found safe after lifeguards confirmed that she had reached the beach with another kite surfer.

Neither of them was injured.

During the search, three other kite surfers who appeared to have joined the efforts were spotted struggling in the surfing zone.

NSRI rescued two males and recovered one of their kiteboards.
