National Science Foundation CAREER Award

Can you talk about how that has impacted your lab?

One of my very first grants was from the National Science Foundation, the NSF Career Award.

NSF is absolutely critical to research and new technologies because it does the fundamental science.

The fundamental science underlies everything that comes next.

And those unanticipated discoveries are often the ones that have the most profound impact.

impact because it generates completely new technologies that were unanticipated.

Our first company, Nanotigris, was a direct result of the NSF Career Award, and it allowed us to really move in directions that we didn't even anticipate when we initially began the program.

Another one of my favorite National Science Foundation programs is the Graduate Research Fellowship Program.

Nick is one of those superstars at Stanford.

In his short career, he's managed to be a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a recipient of the Guggenheim and Sloan Fellowship, a Fritsch Medal winner, and a National Science Foundation Career Award.

With all that said, I have immense respect for him.

His insights into how the economic view of how the internal workings of a firm work, I really think he's probably nobody in the world who better understands that than Nick.

Her mission is to rethink how we find, track, and treat disease, turning data into action through collaborative science and engineering.

Amanda's work has been recognized by the NIH Pioneer Award, the NSF Career Award, the ACM Grace Hopper Award, the ACM Prize in Computing 2023.

Amanda is also a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a World Economic Forum young scientist, and one of the MIT Technology Review's top 35 innovators under 35.

Amanda earned her PhD in applied physics from Harvard University as a Department of Energy Computational Graduate Fellow and a National Science Fellow.
