National Risk Register

Now, who would have imagined that's possible? We've seen another nearly 40 houses burnt across the West Midlands in this last summer.

This is happening on a scale that isn't captured, for example, by the government's compendium of all the dangers that Britain faces, the National Risk Register.

I've been in touch with a lot of firefighters and fire chiefs.

They don't think that the authorities have grasped the scale of what is happening purely on wildfires, let alone on flooding, let alone on extreme heat, where we saw railways closed down, hospitals having to close many of their functions, schools, a thousand schools having to close across England.
