Every single one of them.

Yet according to the National Registry of Exonerations, about 28% of all exonerated people across the United States since 2014 pled guilty to crimes they did not commit.

Likewise, the Innocence Project shows that about 12% of known DNA exoneration cases involved an innocent person who pled guilty.

Oh, they're gearing up for that fight.

They can name cases that they can ha- that can happen.

And you can look at the National Registry of Exonerations, which is a, a research project, um, that categor- catalogs all of the exonerations from 1989, and we're at, I, I believe we're getting to 4,000, if not over 4,000 exonerations.

Wow, okay.

That's amazing.

Federal prosecutors file mandatory minimum charges sixty-five more often against Black defendants for the same behavior.

And the National Registry of Exonerations show- 60% of overturned wrongful convictions involve Black defendants, meaning Black prisoners are roughly seven times more likely than White people to be falsely convicted and later exonerated.

Take out gang violence and the numbers drop sharply.

And per the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the FBI, most violent crime in America is intraracial, period.

Uh, everybody felt that this was another scam, that he had somehow found a way to escape once again.

[pensive music] According to a 2024 report from the National Registry of Exonerations, 7% of wrongful convictions in the registry involved jailhouse testimony, and jailhouse testimony had been a factor in 25% of death penalty cases.

There have been reforms in at least a dozen states.

In Illinois, there are hearings to determine whether a jailhouse informant is reliable enough before a case goes to trial.

The other witness, the one who said that he saw DeMaso Vega at Maria's home on the night in question, also recanted his story.

And his new account was even more disturbing, because according to the National Registry of Exonerations, this second witness said he had seen a man near Maria's home, so that part was true.

But this witness said the person he saw did not fit DeMaso Vega's description.

And the witness said he told the lead detective, Pat Lipka, that the description didn't match from the very beginning.

And then he used other slurs for Hispanics or any member of a minority race in the jury and a legal practice known today, you know, which basically you could you could never do so.

indeed according to the data from the National Registry of exonerations mr. Walker is at least the 35th person convicted by Wade to be exonerated Now, that doesn't mean they were put to death, but they've been exonerated.

So the all-white jury convicted Mr. Walker and sentenced him to death only three months after his arrest.

So they waited four months to find him, hung this around his neck, even though he had nothing to do with it.
