National Museum of Wildlife Art

So, acclaimed artist Emily Poole has been exploring the wild spaces of the Western United States since childhood.

Her work has been used by organizations such as Creature Conserve, Hawkwatch International, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

It has appeared regularly in High Country News, and her illustrations have also been featured in several natural history books, including Bird Note, Northwest Know How Trees, and A Little Book of Hummingbirds.

And for a few years, me, another editor at Mountaineers Books, and our creative director have been eyeing Emily's art and trying desperately to figure out what she could do for us that she hadn't already illustrated for other publishers.

These were some of the most photographed animals on the planet before both of them were hit by cars.

A life-size brown statue of Grizzly 399, titled Against All Odds, was unveiled this month at the National Museum of Wildlife Art near Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, sculptor Jocelyn Russell said, quote, She was an amazing mother.

The range, how she navigated through the canyons and got her cubs safely that far is just phenomenal.

She did a heck of a job with Grizzly 399.

Oh, yeah, Jocelyn's tremendous.

I've been following the 399 legacy of love stories since they got started.

And Jocelyn told me at the unveiling of the Against All Odds Grizzly 399 bronze sculpture at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, That after we did our story on their project, they raised like in a very short amount of time over $200,000, which was about half of the allotted costs that they had for it so cowboy state daily helped out in its own way but jocelyn's great you're gonna have a great time chatting with her

yeah the money raised significant because i think as we've already said um this is not a commission piece this is grassroots this is people you know with their ten dollars five dollar whatever it is this is all funded by people who love the bear love art and love the clash of the two it what a piece it's so cool

And then we get into our our right into our directory, which includes just like some of the museums we've already mentioned.

But the A.R. Mitchell Museum, the Booth Museum, the Briscoe Western Art Museum, Denver Art Museum, the Museum of the Big Bend, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, National Museum of Wildlife Art.

I wasn't going to read all of them, but now I'm trapped and now I have to finish.
