Yeah, so our first quick hit for the week is that surgeons at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, part of University College London Hospitals, have removed an 11mm pituitary tumour using AI that analysed a live surgical video feed and flagged critical structures as the surgeons operated.

University College London calls it the first use of AI to support a neurosurgeon in real time during live surgery.

The system was developed at UCL's Hawkes Institute and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research along with Google.

And so I was like, okay, finally, like, I'm going to get answers.

It was a long road, obviously.

And at the time, my dad fortunately had private medical cover.

And we managed to get John seen in London at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

And he was probably there for about three or four weeks and had a barrage of tests.

So this was in the days before that scans.

Well, I'm not sure I was offered it, to be honest, Kuhan.

And so at the time, we did a lot of research.

So the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery invited us all for brain scans.

So we did all of that.

The Ratio Club, what was it? How did it come about? And why the name?

Well, it was an interdisciplinary scientific dining club, essentially, from the late 1940s, started in 1949, but mainly met in the basement of a nurse's home next to the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases.

The idea was that the members would have something to eat and a few drinks, enough drinks to kind of loosen the vocal cords.

A British man's become the first person in the world to have a brain tumor removed via AI-assisted surgery.

Rhys Hibbert was operated on by surgeons at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery back in May.

The operation saved his eyesight, and he's now back at work as well.

Positive news for British AI.

And the way this happened was completely out of the blue.

Uh, I was then working in London at the National Hospital for Neurology in Queen Square at UCL, and we received a letter from a doctor describing a guy in his thirties.

And this guy had been a highly productive person.

He was in finance.

He was taken to hospital in Hemel Hempstead where it's reported his skin literally started to peel off his body.

Seven different doctors looked at him with no answers before he was eventually transferred to a specialist hospital, the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, where he sadly ended up dying on the 19th of November.

By the time of his death, he couldn't speak or breathe.

Like with Bob Eagle before him, Graham had shown great concern whilst Fred was in the hospital, continually calling the hospital and Fred's wife to check in on him.
