This looks like potential sabotage to remove a very, very likely to be mayoral candidate that the NEC, the National Executive Committee, and the top brass had decreed should be the one.

So, at the point at which there is explicit sabotage between regional and national, you are in, you know that the ANC is actually within civil war.

The fact that regions are ignoring, undermining, and sabotaging, and derailing decisions from the national executive is virtually never happens, and certainly not at this scale.

And I think it goes back to what we've been saying for years, which is, as the ANC's election prospects worsen, and their support shrinks, and it continues to shrink, at different levels across the ANC, there will be fewer positions because they win fewer votes, so they get the right to appoint fewer or fill in fewer political positions in local government, and regional, and provincial, and national.

Fewer positions means fewer people get riches, rewards, and jobs in exchange for their work in the party.

And so with fewer jobs, it means there are now more people scrapping for their jobs and looking into the future and going, "In the next election cycle, say in, uh, 9 or 10 years' time, the ANC might have so few votes and so little support that even me, I may not get that job in the future." So, there's even more fighting for what little is left of a shrinking pie, and that means that ultimately the National Executive Committee gets undermined, because in the regions, they go, "That National Executive Committee, even if I'm their best friend, may not be there for long, may not have a job for me, and so I'm gonna fight for what I can now," and the whole thing crumbles and shakes.

She accused Lamola and ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula of participating in vote buying during the party's 2017 and 2022 national conferences respectively, which they've both denied.

Dlamini-Zuma alleges that the, a circulating audio recording directly implicated Lamola, but she now says she apologizes for her comments.
