National Crime Records Bureau

They weren't foolish, they had just been taught that their whole worth depended on a wedding, and he used that against them.

Dowry has been illegal in India for over 60 years, yet in 2022 alone, India's National Crime Records Bureau recorded 6,450 dowry deaths.

In India law, that means a woman dying unnaturally within seven years of her marriage after being harassed over dowry.

Between 2018 and 2022, that was around 19 women a day.

Then there's the floor beneath the floor.

The National Crime Records Bureau publishes an annual volume on accidental deaths and suicides.

Its two thousand and twenty-three edition records ten thousand seven hundred and eighty-six deaths by suicide in the farming sector.

Four thousand six hundred and ninety farmers and cultivators, six thousand and ninety-six agricultural laborers, around thirty a day.

That is where I feel that ECI needs to put in place a very strong monitoring mechanism.

Earlier, I have suggested that the National Crime Records Bureau, they must have a separate data on electoral, uh, relat- election-related crimes, and they should be reported separately so that all these, these figures are in public domain.

Just as they release data for all kinds of crimes state-wise, and anybody can access that, uh, data of the National Crime Records Bureau.

So once this data is in the public domain, at least people will analyze, and then they will flag these issues.

This is apart from the fact that ECI, it's-- it will actually make ECI's monitoring also simple.
