Here at home in Hawaii, more than one in five of our older adults takes a fall every single year.

This has been incredibly inspirational.

And then the average cost of an emergency room visit due to a fall is eighty nine hundred dollars.

So the NCOA, National Council on Aging, says that if we invest $45 million in fall prevention programs, we can save $1.2 billion.

So, you know, we've really got to prevent the problem.

Okay.

Nationwide, food prices were 3% higher this June compared to the same time last year, according to federal data.

Jessica Johnson is a senior strategist at the National Council on Aging.

So much of the conversation around SNAP and food insecurity really has been around children and families, and older adults really are often a forgotten population.

More than 7 million Americans age 16 up experienced food insecurity in 2023, according to the National Council on Aging.

That's approximately 1 in 11 older Americans.
