This was May 1968.

So let's see what movies came out in 1967.

Back in 1935, he and his school friend Joe Shuster drew up and wrote up the idea of this guy with superpowers who pretends to be a bit of a nebbish and the woman Lois Lane who loves the one and hates the other.

And that little love triangle became the concept that they wrote up into newspaper strips and because writing comics for the newspapers was a huge way to make money in the 30s, and eventually they were able to sell it to the young comic book publishing company, National Publications, and eventually also got him sold as a comic strip for the newspapers.

Jerry Siegel has had ups and downs with National slash DC by this time, and he's only relatively recently come back to write for them.

He was basically writing every comic Superman story until he went off to the army in 1943.

After serving in the Philippines with the Army Air Corps, where he reached the rank of corporal, he began to work for Timely Comics, the precursor to Marvel Comics, in 1946 as an uncredited staff penciller.

Two years later, he began freelancing for National Comics, the precursor to DC Comics, where he drew for All-American Men at War and Our Army at War.

He was eventually lured back to Marvel by Stan Lee, where under his own name, became one of the book's premier Silver Age artists, beginning with Daredevil and Doctor Strange.

He drew the first appearances of Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy, and was co-creator with Stan Lee of The Falcon, Marvel's first black superhero.

So early the following year, National Comics, which is later known as DC Comics, success with the seminal superhero Superman, you may have heard of him, in Action Comics prompted editors to scramble for similar heroes.
