The National Board of Review (NBR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cinematic excellence and deepening public appreciation for film as an art form. Originally established in 1909 as the Board of Censorship of Motion Picture Programs and later renamed the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures, NBR has played a meaningful role in film culture for more than a century. The organization offers its members exclusive access to year-round screenings of independent and mainstream films, along with Q&A conversations with filmmakers and actors that provide unique insight into the craft of storytelling. NBR is best known for its annual NBR Awards, which recognize the year’s most outstanding achievements in film and honor the artists behind them.
