National Aviary

But I was able to meet my first boss at that conference.

She interviewed me and I went to work at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh and worked with like a whole bunch of parrots there too, but also raptors and penguins and all sorts of species, flamingos, you name it.

We got to work with everything.

It was really fun.

And yeah, yeah, we did a whole bunch of training and created some public engagement opportunities to get people close to the birds and engaging with them and learning about them and hopefully wanting to care and do something to help protect them.

I met my husband at the National Aviary.

He was our director of conservation and field research there.

And so after a while, he and I moved down to West Virginia.

The National Aviary in Pittsburgh is inviting you, the public, to help name two new skunks.

Hmm.

Are they aware that they're not birds?

... name skunks? What?

The striped skunk sisters were born at the Cincinnati Zoo, a very fine place, back in April, and arrived at the Aviary over the summer.

The National Aviary is now taking submission for name ideas through its website.

You can submit kid-friendly names until September 14th.

Sophia, what are you looking forward to doing this month?

Okay, I technically did this at the end of August, but I went to the National Aviary.

It was a revisit.

I love going to the aviary.

You know, we had a very rainy August.

I am in no way manifesting this for September, too.

But if it's rainy, National Aviary, because I was there during a rainy day in August and the heartbeat eagle was pretty out and about and active and their natural habitat is the rainforest.

So something to do during a Pittsburgh gray weather.
