welcome back to hello houston and now it's time to head to the stage for an in-depth look at houston's performing arts scene it's on the marquee with ernie manouse

thank you for that and on the marquee today is nathan felix he's a composer and musician known for his immersive operas we're gonna that break down the wall between performer and audience and on saturday october 10th the blaffer art museum at the university of houston campus will present La Grande Esperanza, a short immersive opera composed by Felix, which follows three Hispanic childhood friends whose lives are shaped by the support and success that grows from unwavering resolve and one boy's dreams of baseball.

So in some ways I've become a traditionalist, but I want people to know that when they're coming, it's not this inspiration of opera or it's not something that is quasi opera, that it's inherently the music is opera.

Yes, it does have pop sensibilities because I'm writing in a modern era, but nothing about it to me is musical theater.
