I mean, the exact same thing happened to Bob Dylan and Joan Baez in the late 60s.

The moment Dylan traveled to Nashville to record Nashville Skylines using pedal steel guitars, the industry suddenly wanted to mislabel him as a country artist.

Even though his songwriting was the same.

Exactly.

It just seems so happy and easy.

Like you say, um, Even like that whole era, really, Nashville skyline, I think is very summery to me.

Having to do with that easiness, there's like a sunniness.

I mean, they are the locusts, I think is a pretty obvious one.

I mean, he recorded the album Nashville Skyline.

Surely he should have been the first musician to get an Americana Award 25 years ago.

He's never got one.

That's a good album.

What about his first album, one of the great debut albums of all time? We are talking 400 years ago.

No one ever saw the light of the day.

The last Bob Dylan album that came out before New Morning was 1969's Nashville Skyline.

And then the next album you get, just a year later, you know, not so long, you know, down the road, is New Morning.

And how would the album, A, how would the album have been received at the time, and B, how would the album be thought of now? And I do...

Rolling Stone claimed that Dylan looked like he'd just walked off the cover of Nashville Skyline.

Well, mind you, he did look good on that cover.

The first song on this disc is from the rehearsal.

Then he stays for John Wesley Harding and for later Self Portrait.

And of course, this amazing record, Nashville Skyline on the back of the record.

you see the skyline and it's so unimpressive.

I mean, it is just like a Samick compared to all this, you know, it is just like, man,

there was something that he did with members of the band, like the Take a Load Off Annie, the band, like the guy from that, whatever his name was.

God dang it, I can't remember it.

During this period, he recorded a large body of songs with members of the band.

Hey, there it is! Which produced the album The Basement Tapes, 1975.

Dylan explored country music and rural themes on the albums John Wesley Harding, 1967, Nashville Skyline, 1969, and New Morning, 1970.

So I'm pretty sure Nashville Skyline I know because of the Ken Burns documentary Country Music.
