We have no local gas industry in New South Wales, Tony.
James WillisHOST
95:10
And part of the issue is that Santos are trying to drill at Narrabri and regional New South Wales, For more than 10 years, they've spent a billion dollars trying to get that up and running to put prices down, but they can't get it through all the legal, green tape, red tape, whatever it may be.
James WillisHOST
95:27
And unfortunately, Tony, as part of that, the Energy Minister of New South Wales, Penny Sharp, in opposition, fought and opposed this project, which doesn't help their cause either.

before they were in government.
Jeremy BuckinghamSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
46:16
It's an absolute shame.
Jeremy BuckinghamSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
46:18
Before they were in state government they said they were opposed to fracking and opposed to Narrabri.
Jeremy BuckinghamSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
46:23
Well what we've seen recently with their new statement on gas is them opening up a new vast area of the state to fracking and gas.
Jeremy BuckinghamSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
46:34
We've seen what's happened in the Northern Territory with Boon Fe Luw Basin.
Jeremy BuckinghamSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER

Now industry and unions are behind it.
John StanleyHOST
21:34
Now, this is terrific because you might remember, was it about a month ago, I mentioned Mount Capita.
John StanleyHOST
21:41
It's a national park just near Narrabri.
John StanleyHOST
21:43
And the reason I mentioned it was because somewhere I went when I was actually a kid.
John StanleyHOST
21:49
And I thought it was fantastic.
John StanleyHOST
21:51
But it was a story about Narrabri, northwestern New South Wales, and the pink slug.
John StanleyHOST
21:58
Now, this is apparently up in the Capita National Park.
John StanleyHOST
22:00
And the pink slug was their version of the big.

Shout out to all the locals down there in Narrabri.
Moises HenriquesGUEST
48:29
But what I will say is to your point, Stu, we used to play shield games in the country once or twice a year.
Nick MortonGUEST
27:02
I hated it.
Nick MortonGUEST

speaker_1HOST

They were down from Narrabri.
speaker_1HOST
4:10
They'd come down on the train, so a long way, and there were some folks on my right, a bunch of ladies.
speaker_1HOST
4:16
They were dressed in pink as Sadie the Cleaning Lady, another famous song.
Andrew GrahamHOST

B-double-rated cattle that take up the Gundawindi.
AndrewAUDIENCE
23:03
And when I got, like, around near Narrabri, from Narrabri to Gundawindi, I've never seen so much water in the paddocks there.
AndrewAUDIENCE
23:12
Like, their crops and stuff growing like wheat and everything.
AndrewAUDIENCE
23:16
They've had a lot of rain through that area, eh?
Ian McNamaraHOST
24:13
Yeah, well, it's the old story in Australia, isn't it? And then we just had the call a little while ago from Georgian Wakery where they can't harvest.
Ian McNamaraHOST
24:22
They're harvesting barley because there's been no harvest today and it's been a very, you know, and there's lots of, it's going to be one of the big harvests in Australia this year because they haven't had much in the last couple of years but it's going to be a big harvest because the crops are just amazing in some places but they mightn't have the trucks or the storage to get rid of it.
AndrewAUDIENCE
24:43
Yeah, well, up between that Narrabri, Moree, Gundawindi, up through there, there's some nice-looking crops growing, but I can't see them getting onto the paddocks for at least another two or three weeks if it stops raining.
Ian McNamaraHOST
24:57
Yeah.
Brett PapworthHOST

Brett PapworthHOST
18:52
