Maybe has fallen off a little bit in the last five years with movies like Napoleon that was utterly terrible, but it's okay.

He is still that dude.

He is still somebody who knows how to make a great film.

Um, this probably is... "Dog Stars" probably is the weakest of, of the decade so far.

The Martian, All the Money in the World, The Last Duel, House of Gucci, Napoleon, and now Gladiator 2.

Like, this man is so close to death and he keeps on working for some reason.

Ridley Scott broke the heart of a generation of Napoleonic nerds.

The Napoleon movie of 2020, whatever the hell it was, now I've blotted it from my mind, promised so much when it came to inspiration, cinema, storytelling, and igniting a passion for a fresh generation of would-be historians.

it failed catastrophically pretty much the only thing it succeeded on was spectacle and as you can hear from my whining and from my guests there's been a lot of complaining going on since you'd be forgiven for thinking that i was some kind of jilted lover for the degree to which i whine on about ridley scotts Boo-boo.

It pains me to criticise Ridley because he's the master of many a film.

very kind but yeah I mean the angle that you chose there that was very accurate because the basic premise of the film is the experience of an infantryman in the basic thrust of the film is the experience of an infantryman in a Napoleonic-era battle, and something that Ridley, as you very rightly said, signally failed to do.

He had all that money, and like I said before, he spent it on flags instead of, you know, anything else of any worth or value historically.
