What do you see as the relationship between craft and industry? where does that sit alongside the importance of preserving craft? Because I feel like so much conversation now is about looking after traditional techniques and going back to the basics, but is that kind of limiting in a way and not recognising that we need to still maintain industry?

Yeah, I mean, the chairs that we're sitting on, I believe this is Naoto Fukasawa from Aruni, they obviously are produced at scale, but you have to think about these furniture companies as places that actually employ a lot of people who have gone through traditional craft training.

And in order to make a chair like this, you definitely need to have that background.

But also the opportunity to be employed at a place like this gives you a little bit of financial freedom to also explore your own practice on the side.
