[laughs] You know? They're not thinking of like the, the, the accounting on the street.
14:29
Yeah.
14:29
Yeah.
14:30
So, um, we, because we sort of, I didn't know what I was doing, you know? I, I, I came up as, um, an accountant at small businesses and nonprofits, and so I didn't have the experience of being at a CPA firm and learning this is how it's always been done, which for good and for bad, that, that was awesome in a lot of ways because like I made up my own rules.
14:55
Um, it was lousy in other ways, um, because like I, I didn't have anybody to ask.
15:01
We didn't have all the online communities like AskA CPA or podcasts like yours and She Counts.
15:06
We didn't have, I mean, LinkedIn was like nothing.

21 MINS LATER

35:50
Mm-hmm
11:56
Now, what are some of the most surprising things that you've learned from this community?
12:03
You know, what you were just saying about this crazy built out chart of accounts That is kind of...
12:13
That kind of thing, the level of care that you're describing there, I would say that that's been...
12:19
I don't know that that's been surprising so much, but sort of constantly reassuring.
12:25
I mean, it surprises me over and over and over again.
12:28
And at some point, I probably should be like, hey, Nancy, stop being surprised by this.
12:32
Like, you know bookkeepers are amazing.

27 MINS LATER

39:24
So, so what kind of themes have you heard over and over from women in, in accounting?
13:32
So what are some ways that you have educated your clients that they understand what are their expectations during tax season and, and what can they not expect from you?
13:44
I am so glad that [laughs] that you're talking about this because I think the reason we all cringe here and that we all are challenged with it is that it's one thing to change your own processes internally.
13:56
It's a different thing to manage somebody else.
13:59
Y- Th- It- That is an emotional situation.
14:02
Uh, there's a personality situation there.
14:06
Um, so I'm gonna go back to what I was saying about not turning 180 degrees at once, but one degree 180 times.
14:14
You're in charge here.

14 MINS LATER

27:56
Is there some tricks you've got related to that?
13:32
So what are some ways that you have educated your clients that they understand what are their expectations during tax season and, and what can they not expect from you?
