Namibia national cricket team

... and it's gonna be a very special time for our country, for our continent, as we celebrate being African and proudly South African.

We've told people to come for the cricket and stay for the culture, and I think, uh, between ourselves, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, we're certainly gonna showcase the special, uh, the specialness of our beautiful land.

Absolutely.

Johno Lefriet, thank you for your time this morning.

[upbeat music] Now that we've caught up on all the headlines, it's time for the latest results and fixtures in world cricket.

Cricket World Cup League 2 was back in the United States, and the USA were taking on the UAE to kick things off after Namibia versus UAE got rained out.

UAE would bat first and put up a whopping 330 thanks to a Mohammad Shadab 114 and Athan Suri 78 going at a run a ball.

The Americans would need their best ever ODI chase and got some unbelievable performances.

Monank Patel, the captain, would score 55 off of 62 as Sai Tejamoorthi Mukkamala would one-better him with 56 off of 62 of his own.

But it was 57 off of 49 for Shubman Gill and then a player of the match performance from Milind Kumar, who would score an unbeaten 116 off of 84 to lead the USA to a six wicket win with seven balls remaining.

The USA were then in action against Namibia, and Namibia posed a challenge, 'cause with the bat, Namibia would get to 298 thanks to Michael van Lingen's 124, and then a rapid Gerhard Erasmus 76 off of just 45 deliveries.

He looked like he was batting on a different wicket.

Tomorrow is the time of recording.

We're going up against Namibia a couple days later than that, then back to the UAE and then back versus Namibia.

I had my notes here that the U.S. was going up against Nam.

Did not work that well in the 70s, did it? Maybe it'll be better this time.

But like, It's fun seeing these random teams go out and play.

And yeah, 14 teams, right? So just so everyone knows, right? So 14 teams are going to play in the ODI World Cup.

So 10 have auto-qualified, either by being hosts, and this is in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

So 10 have qualified, either by virtue of being hosts or just being the top teams.

They give us their reflections on the value of the development tournament as part of their growth as players.

And there's good news for Ayan, as he's been named in the UAE senior squad for the first time off the back of the development tournament for the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two series event in the United States of America, featuring not only the hosts, but also Namibia.

with those matches taking place in Dallas from October 3rd to the 11th.

Ayan's inclusion is a tremendous achievement for the 17-year-old batter and also a source of pride for the Vipers, given Ayan's participation in the Talent Pathway programme.
