Naked Angels

Terrence McNally sort of plucked me out of obscurity, really.

I was directing at a little company called Naked Angels, and Terrence would see everything, and so he saw something that I had directed there, and he saw another little play that I'd done.

And when Love! Valour came around, there was another very well-known director attached to it, and then they had a, I don't, still don't know exactly why, but they had a parting of the ways.

And so he was kind of in it.

Right.

So, so, uh, uh, And the Naked Angels Theater Company was doing their benefit, and they asked me, the skinny bald guy from Six Degrees, to play Mahatma Gandhi in a sketch.

Okay.

And my old friend, Bruce McVitie, since passed away, the joke was he claps Gandhi on the back in a friendly way, and Gandhi shoves him hard in the chest, and the crowd loses it because Gandhi's been violent.

I've been through so many agents, I don't know.

But she was also friendly with all of the Naked Angels.

We- I was part of Naked Angels.

Oh, okay.

So I kinda knew her from that.

The New York City native has always been busy, from her first role in 1983 on As the World Turns to her famous Oscar win for My Cousin Vinny in 1993.

In between studio movies, she's done indie films and Broadway shows and continued her work as a founding member of the off-Broadway theater company Naked Angels.

She also started the supplement company Terra Mare, which sells products like Morning Restore, a collagen powder with vitamins and pre and probiotics.

You don't have to really think about it, she says, of why she loves the products.
