This is meta, right? You need this massive data centers that can take up even like maybe the size of, say, Naivasha, right? Sitting in Arizona.

And they need massive water, clean water to be able to keep them cool.

Those are the problematic ones.

Mm-hmm.

It happens to people in Nakuru and Naivasha.

Yeah.

see that something is happening to me like please help help and then it continued for a while until I passed out because I remember we were going to Nakuru I started feeling like this when we got to Limuru because we were leaving when we got to Limuru and it continued like that until we got to Naivasha I woke up when we got to Naivasha I woke up and then I just threw up on myself and then I passed out again In my head, I'm still, like, I'm still crying.

Now, when I woke up and threw up, that's when now people notice.

It's like, oh, something is happening.

Everything else, if it is constant, just the energy itself knocks us out.

That's why the oranges from Egypt are cheaper here in Nairobi than our oranges from Naivasha.

Because the production of oranges in Egypt, much as it is irrigation.

Yeah.

But in Egypt, they burn oil.

Yes, to produce their electricity.

And those oranges up to Mombasa and upward to Nairobi, the shelves of our supermarkets, they're still cheaper than our oranges from Naivasha.

because of the energy production, the cost of energy to a farmer here and a farmer in Egypt, just to compare now when you come closer home.

It's a Christian organization that deals with the conservation of birds.

And now leading up to how and why we came to be birders, Yes, this came all the way when I was still a student doing my diploma program down at Naivasha when I was doing my diploma in wildlife management.

This is where my friends that we were staying with introduced me into birding.

And with the stories that they used to give to me, the introduction was really amazing.

We have an ant called the big-headed ant that was introduced in Kenya probably way back, you know, in the sort of early days of developing horticulture and agriculture in, in large scale farms.

Um, and this ant has taken over entire landscapes from Nairobi to Naivasha.

There's, like, one colony that's, you know, spreading and devastating native ant species.

And so moving insects, moving ants, moving any species around the world without, you know, the proper kind of considerations is extremely risky because it could escape and it could go on to damage other ecosystems.

Where is it? So the proposed Microsoft data center project in Kenya was a planned $1 billion investment that was announced in 2024 between Microsoft and a UAE-based AI company called G42.

So the goal was to build a massive geothermal-powered data center in Olkaria, Nevasha, and launch the first major Microsoft Azure, I hope that's the correct pronunciation, cloud region in East Africa.

So they said the facility was intended to, number one, expand Microsoft Azure cloud services across East Africa, strengthen Kenya's AI and cloud computing infrastructure, support government systems like e-citizen and regional businesses, then position Kenya as a major African tech and AI hub, run primarily on renewable

geothermal energy from the region.
