Suppliers commonly need aerospace quality management systems such as AS9100.

And here, manufacturing processes like heat treatment and chemical processing can require separate Nadcap accreditation, which is an industry-run approval system that certifies a factory's ability to perform those processes correctly.

Sansera itself says its new surface treatment facility was seeking Nadcap validation.

But beyond certifications, individual customers of ancillaries run their own validation programs, which can take years.

Bharat Forge says some of the critical industrial products it supplies can take three to five years merely to get validated and approved.
