I think Aemond was a big disappointment this season.

Characters like Mysaria.

It, it just felt like it was tho- a l- a lot of the episodes was a lot of buildup and not enough payoff.

Well, what about the payoff with Ulf? I feel like Ulf was one of the best parts of this season.

Well, we can make it one.

No, I feel like Hugh...

Yeah, no, I'll actually put Hugh in the category with Aemond and Mysaria for biggest disappointments because I think the Hugh writing was just lazy.

What, they kinda, like, they build up this side character to be somebody, and then they kinda just, like, push him off?

Like we see when, especially when we get to season three of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra starts almost unraveling with the stress that's involved in all of this.

And I think it was almost at the end of season two, I'm going to confuse seasons, where Mysaria and, well, Jace, her son, the prince, the future heir, kind of mentions other possible dragon riders.

Because they're like, whoa, we need more dragons.

The more dragons we have, the more powerful we are.

But like Aegon being here, not...

And, you know, Mysaria is like around, and she's a whisperer, and she's a schemer, and she's trying to wrap, uh-

... like the worst kinda circumstances.

Nobody really wants to see her succeed.

Um, and in the show that's like, I think they make that a lot more explicit, like how many different directions she's being pulled into by Jace, and Daemon, and Mysaria, and, you know, Cor- in the book there's Corlys and, and, uh, uh, Selhyrr the Master of Coin, all that kinda stuff.

She just, she's just really being pulled in all these d- different directions, trying to do the right thing always, but...

Yeah, because Alison didn't set up for her to come with them.

So who's taking care of her, I wonder? Because Mysaria's...

packed off with her bag of tricks, isn't she? Shall we move on to that? Well, she totally got

done by text, didn't she?

A prize by which she can hold power over her enemies.

She will never release you.

Yeah, I think you just sealed Helena's fate, Mysaria.

Yeah, yeah.

We have enough issues for them to deal with.

It serves no narrative purpose, because if they're going to show some additional, I guess, drama, that Rhaenyra, for example, can be vulnerable with Mysaria in a way that she can't be with Daemon.

Why? Even if that's what you're trying to depict, why? Daemon was always there for her.

What did Mysaria do for her? Mysaria is just telling her what she needs to hear.

And by having Rhaenyra kind of eat that up, you're making her... a weaker character.

Make Rhaenyra smart.

Just some hint that she decides to cash in on what she knows but writes as a funny dwarf to hide her identity.

[laughs] Mysaria could be even better positioned, but is maybe too much to load onto a single character.

Is there anything in the book such as how Mushroom talks about certain characters that provides clues?

I, I feel like David is laboring under the impression that Mushroom might be an apocryphal or composite character when not only is he like a real historical character, but a lot of us think we've already seen him.
