My War

Uh, we're starting off with H2O with Sick Boy from Don't Forget Your Roots, because I was like, that's such a great cover.

One of my other, uh, favorite covers is Good Riddance doing their cover of My War, and that is from their album Coverups.

Follow that up with Face to Face with, uh, Put You in Your Place from their self-titled.

We finish with Pennywise and Anyone Listening.

Yeah.

I remember the f- I mean, I think I was 16, uh, first time I heard the, the side two of My War by Black Flag, you know, where actually-

Oh, wow.

Yeah

Mm-hmm.

Some of the other stuff on My War that was really-

Mm

... incredible and pivotal, I think, at the time, so.

There's one that you said that I feel like could've been mine.

The classics, dude.

I mean, I'd probably throw maybe My War in there.

Oh, my God.

And then, much to everyone's delight and consternation, Rolling Stone gives Meat Puppets 2 a four-star review right in the middle of this tour.

And no review for My War.

Certainly no review for the Nigh Heist 45.

But the next thing you know, and I checked...

You could not find Meat Puppets 2 records in the record stores.

And I'd always go around to the record stores and see if our records were there, and they were not there.

My War was there.

And next thing you know, the scuttlebutt in the shows that are coming out, you're seeing these advanced articles for the tour saying that, yeah, Black Flag got a four-star review in Rolling Stone, and the Meat Puppets are... playing imitation fake cock rock metal.

But then as I got into punk, Henry Rollins with Black Flag.

I mean, if you go listen to the My War album, which is the first album I ever got, Rollins is just screaming his throat off.

I mean, and we know all he does is drink coffee.

So that's all this going down his pipes.
