We... admire her writing we do but to your point everything is bleak everything is seen through like a miasma of dissatisfaction there's no positivity no and it's not even negativity it's just bleak stasis my phantoms was about a relationship between a mother and daughter a toxic relationship between a mother and daughter and so it did work like we thought it was good but we weren't no one was saying they were in a rush to read another one by her and when i saw this book on the long list And I saw the content.

I was like, oh, OK, well, maybe she's expanding a little bit.
