The story of the Jack Russell Terrier starts with a man named John Russell.

Born in 1795 in Devonshire, England, Russell was training to become a clergyman, but his religious duties with the church came in second place to his real passion, fox hunting.

This is a breed for someone who wants a genuine partner in activity, whether that's agility courses, long hikes, or actual hunting, which some Jack Russells still do to this day.

It is said that Jack Russells can jump as high as five feet, and these lovable show-offs have the physical agility to back up that claim.

So how does a working terrier from the English countryside end up as one of the most recognizable dog breeds in Hollywood? Well, it turns out that same intensity and intelligence that made them great hunters translates really well onto a film set.

And let's face it, they're also super cute.

He did Wild Things in '98, Stir of Echoes in '99, My Dog Skip, We Married Margo, and this movie in 2000, and then Trapped in 2002.

So she was truly an actress.

She co-starred in My Dog Skip.
