But I grew up born and raised in, in the Philly suburbs.

We have tremendous history in Philadelphia, obviously, as you know, uh, including the Mütter Museum, which is just a world-renowned medical history museum.
D
10:13Doug ArbeterGUEST
So I used to go there in high school and just like sort of, uh, nerd out in the, uh, in their library and looking at their collections, and that really pushed my passion forward.
D
10:24Doug ArbeterGUEST
And the College of Physicians is in Philadelphia, which is a historical organization, and so I really sort of cut my teeth on some of these old early museums.
D
10:31Doug ArbeterGUEST
But I was always thinking to myself, "You know, I would love, as I put together a collection of increasing what I hope is im- importance, that I would have a, a space." So I went to undergrad and med school and residency at Penn, and then I went to upstate New York for seven years afterwards for my first job, and I started thinking while I was up there, "Wow, I really have to display my stuff right, and I'd love to have a museum." So when we came back down to York, I decided, "Hey, let's find a, a property where ultimately I can build a mini museum on it," which I've done, and I started the, the website, and it's just been, it's just been great because honestly, my-- one of my main drivers in doing all this is to educate people.
D
11:12Doug ArbeterGUEST
And I have a lot of people tune into my website, medicalantiques.com, and they tune in, they ask questions, they say, "Hey, this was my great grandfather's," and, "What can you tell me about it?" So just educating the public about my passion has ignited a passion in a lot of other people.
D
11:27Doug ArbeterGUEST
And once I built the museum in York, I had museum curators from really around the world came and visited, including from the Mütter Museum.

One of my proudest moments, their entire, uh, leadership team came out to my museum, and they were looking around like, "Oh my God, this is incredible.
