And the L.A. Museum of Contemporary Art gets a new CEO.

The Broad, LACMA, MOCA, the New Lucas Museum.

L.A. is a major player in world-class art.

But Adolfo Guzman Lopez says don't sleep on L.A. County libraries and community centers.

And then Monuments at MoCA, like we are so blessed to live in the time to see that show, right? And that is like a MoCA show, which is like a huge, beautiful catalog, this incredible show, this like art historical position that like only an institution of that scale could take.

Like it...

It's a MOCA show.

And we haven't seen like a really like, you know, like I think Anna's photo realism show is like really incredible.

And there have been great shows.

But those like big budget, big art history game changing MOCA shows.

That's like what MOCA does.

And LACMA is a museum.

I'm Dominique DiPrima, and I'm talking fast because I just found out we have a limited time.

with our guest she is um an artist um uh i i it sounds like not enough to say um she is um what the what the bio says a high voltage funketeer based in los angeles um an artist who's done um you know exhibitions at institutions you know some of the top institutions museum of fine arts in boston MOCA in Los Angeles, uh, and many other, um, you know, major, uh, metropolitan, uh, museum of art and other major, major, um, institutions in the art world, but also, uh, recently, um, installed an incredible piece called, uh, Sister Dreamer on 76th and Western, uh, born and raised in LA.

She's a multidisciplinary artist, um, and she's got something powerful happening, uh, coming up in about a week at the Hollywood Bowl.

... and Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

And we did some memorial, uh, recognition for what would have h- been his 50th birthday in Los Angeles at our theater there called the Bootleg Theater, a small house in LA.

But I felt that this piece needed to be scripted-

Uh, there was a retrospective of Jean's work at the Brooklyn Museum, and I was able to contribute some improvised, uh, narrative for that.

And then there was another one at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, my native Los Angeles, and I was able to do a, a similar presentation there, developing the work more.

And then we did a couple of, uh, memorial, uh, performances on what would've been his 50th birthday, for example.

But then I decided, well, I need to knock this out.
