Murders in the Rue Morgue

He says, "I know Uncle Steve isn't a fan of Murders in the Rue Morgue, but I thought it was a fitting choice for the show opener because it was the opener for the first tour Iron Maiden did with Bruce, except for a few shows they did with him in 1981," which, yeah, it's fair.

"I also first thought it was a bit too long of an intro to play the Ides of March followed by the entire intro of Murders.

However, I found it interesting to see the evolution of the song over the years as I listened to past live versions.

Hey, for some reason, it's idiosyncratic, but every time in my mind where I'm trying to say Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, I wanna say Murders at the Rue Mor- like, Rue Morgue because of the-

... like, Rue Morgue or something.

"Steve, Uncle Steve correctly pointed out how he butchered the snare rolls in Murders in the Rue Morgue during the early shows of the 2025 tour.

When I first heard the Budapest show, I was like, 'What the crap just happened?' [laughs] I guess snare rolls aren't his strongest technique."

Mm-hmm.

I would've preferred they remove another Killer song, you know? Or a Killer song.

But they played two Killer songs.

They played three They played Murders in the Rue Morgue, they played Killers and Wrathchild

Oh, okay.

So I'm not exactly sure how that exactly happened, but, uh- Either way, either way.

So, so my, uh, question I have though is what did you think about... 'Cause the, uh, the tour, uh, the song, uh, Murders in the Rue Morgue is the one that opens-
