Murder of Nicholas Markowitz

greeting citizens hey you hey you beautiful creepy human being you and welcome to today's true crime episode i'm so happy that you are here i'm so happy that somehow on all of this that we're forced to deal with on the day today today you and i were able to find each other on this crazy little planet that we call home my name is britney or braderstein whichever you prefer and today we're going to be discussing the abduction and murder of 15 year old nicholas markowitz In the summer of the year 2000, 15-year-old Nick Markowitz was spending what appeared to be a totally normal evening in Santa Barbara.

He was at a hotel with a group of other teenagers, hanging out, swimming, drinking, laughing.

To anyone that was looking at the scene, you would have no idea that anything was wrong.

And they said if they had heard this, it would have caused them to handle the situation differently.

But at this point, they just thought that there's some kids roughhousing, messing around and that the kid walked away and he was fine.

And so police didn't locate this van, as I said, and they didn't even find out that this van was connected to Nick Markowitz specifically until like it was far too late and Nick was already gone.

I think it was by the time like his body had been found.

So the LAPD did end up opening an internal investigation into the handling of the call because it was a huge mistake.
