Munising

On March 15, 2016, Xin Rong flew out of Ann Arbor in a 1984 Cessna 172P owned by the Michigan Flyers.

When it was overdue to return, authorities were notified and the wreckage was found in a forested area near Manitowage, Ontario, northeast of Munising, over Lake Superior.

The downed Cessna he had been flying was found in a densely wooded area in Ontario the same day he rented the aircraft from a flying group at the Ann Arbor airport.

But Zinn was not at the scene of the crash and there were no footprints in the snow to indicate that Zinn was in the aircraft at the time it crash landed.

Zhen Rong vanished while piloting an aircraft.

So I was driving through the barren wasteland of between, you know, Marquette.

It was after Munising.

So like the Sini stretch and then all three like.

So you're between the top and the bottom of the UP where there's nothing.

Yeah.

I said, "But, you know, the Amalfi Coast, the, uh, coast of, uh, of, uh, uh, uh, the pumping station up near Munising, beautiful this time of year." Give you details on that trip coming up.

That's gonna be cool.

And then as I continued through the waterway toward Sault Ste., going eastern along the south shore, kinda found some more rocky little outcroppings of islands along Marquette.

And then toward Munising, there's Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

So it's similar to the Apostle Islands in that it's sandstone, but it's a little bit lighter and has a lot more interesting banding of colors along it, and they are a lot taller.

And so thankfully I had a friend join for a day paddle there to show me all the nice beautiful sights and caves there.
