Mulsanne Straight

The track was a lot different then than it was now.

There, there was a big, what you called the Dunlop Bend, which went up past the pits and up under the Dunlop Bridge, then down, then through the S's and on to Tertre Rouge, and then on down the, the Mulsanne Straight.

So I shot from there to Tertre Rouge.

I did a lot of walking, I remember that.

I went in my pocket, and I couldn't find my car keys.

That didn't make me too happy.

I... [laughs] Luckily, I left the sunroof open, and I was able to slide the sunroof open, and I crawled up into the car, and I said, "Well, I'll worry about how I'm gonna get this thing started in the morning." And I remember lying there, uh, in the back seat or somewhere in the car, and I could hear the cars going down the Mulsanne Straight with long...

[imitates car] And I just remember saying, "Boy, I'm glad I'm not out there." [laughs]

it's funny i I must confess, many, many, many years ago, I was at Le Mans for the 24.

I was there as a spectator and a guest, but I snuck two people who'd never been at the gendarme's courses eventually across the golf course to stand at the side of Mulsanne Straight.

I said, you want to know what a full-blown endurance racer sounds like and looks like in action? And they couldn't credit the speed at which they went past.

No, no, I don't think you can.

... oh.

And then, you see, you're, you're flying down the Mulsanne Straight at-

240 k an hour, yeah

... 200 with halogen headlights.
