Mud

...

but he has a supporting role, and in his top three performances with True Detective and I think Dallas Buyers Club, Mud.

Hmm.

Hmm.

I saw it before you did it.

Hmm.

So but, but I was like, "Oh, darn, I get to watch Mud again." And I love it.

Hmm.

You know, you got Dallas Buyers Club, you got Wolf of Wall Street, Interstellar, True Detective.

Mud.

Mud.

I mean, the guy is just an absolute dynamo, and now he is an absolute philosopher king.

What's the super dark movie he did?

Like Strider, you nailed it, bro.

His energy is just so pure.

He said his favorite movie to make was Mud.

What else has he done?

Mud.

Mud.

Midnight Special.

Yeah.

... fair enough.

Yeah.

That one he did with, he did one with Matthew McConaughey called Mud.

The beginning of his career with Dazed and Confused, A Time to Kill, and Contact.

And then of course you had the McConaissance with movies like Killer Joe, Mud, and Interstellar, amongst others.

And I think we are at the start of another stellar run by Matthew McConaughey.

He is making good movies like The Lost Bus and The Rivals of Amzaia King with good filmmakers, Paul Greengrass and Andrew Patterson respectively, that play into his strengths as an actor.

But this movie was made for Matthew McConaughey.

This is the type of movie I want Matthew McConaughey to be a part of.

His work in The Rivals of Amzaia King reminds me of what he did in the movie Mud, which has now become a super underrated film.

If you have not seen Matthew McConaughey in Jeff Nichols' Mud, do yourself a favor and watch that movie immediately.

And literally just watched...

Mud.

And in case it's been a minute, two 14-year-old boys named Ellis and Neckbone hop in a boat and discover a man living alone on an island on the Mississippi River with a boat stuck in a tree.

That man is Mud, played by Matthew McConaughey.

A fugitive on the run with a warrant out for his arrest and a whole lot of charm to make you forget about it.

Mud tells the boys he killed a man to protect the love of his life, Juniper.

But the man he killed is a part of a family crime organization and they hire bounty hunters to get rid of Mud.

Ellis, going through his own heartbreak watching his parents go through a divorce, becomes completely obsessed with helping Mud get his boat out of the tree, repairing it so he can sail away and reunite with Juniper.
