he's
7:01
he's been he's been playing music well he's been doing started releasing music a lot earlier than me you know as well and um yeah we're just i'm very i'm so so happy for him and he's doing his thing and he's he's just crushing it so it's great and it's just great to see and um Yeah, and it's been so nice doing my own music as well and just playing and getting out there.
7:29
Yeah, it's just great to see friends.
7:32
We both went to a music school as well, so a lot of our peers do music and things like that.
7:38
So it's just, I don't know, it feels like a very uplifting community in the sense that I think that's what you love about... as musicians you want to like lift people up rather than knock people down you know and i think i think that's an important quality to have as a musician you know you to support your peers you know and i think and that just comes down to friendship and everything you know i think it's important it's in this game to be like yeah that's great what you're doing like you know what i mean

And so I wanted to ask, what inspired that song from a songwriting standpoint? It
16:35
was kind of weird.
16:36
It was one that I had...
3:24
But talk about how you go about songwriting and actually layering and putting together the sounds for the record.
3:30
I think, well, firstly, it was like, definitely wanted to have it like all real instruments, you know, that was like a, one kind of thing I really kind of set out to do with the record was like, if it's possible, if we can have not a single MIDI instrument and everything be live and real, the real thing, that would be incredible, you know, like in this time, day and age, you know, it'd be nice to do something like that.
3:52
And I think people definitely, there are artists, a lot of artists doing that as well, but I think we do things called pre-production when you're writing a song it's like it's when you write the song top to bottom there's a long process for it to happen before it you know i spent we spent a lot of time on the especially for items sound like the string arrangements back in vocal arrangements you sort of piece that together and then when it comes to doing it live you get the the right people and it all comes together if you're playing it live together you get something actually quicker than if you know sometimes you can be you're creating like a drum thing on on a like a a door which is like a music software you could spend ages doing that and if you program it or you could just get someone who's really good at the drums and play you know it's kind of weird but it's like i think there's a certain thing in chemistry of players playing together you know and i really wanted that on the record and because we tracked the whole album and All the band tracking was done in two days, so it was actually quite quick once we got the parts together.

let's hear some more songs that influenced you though it could be anything
13:45
there's there's so many those honestly there's so many like i don't think i was a songwriter i think you definitely there's certain songs that you listen to and you're like oh that's a masterpiece there's a song called for once in my life i don't know if you know that's a pretty like there's certain ones in like the canon which are like these are just you know This is, as a songwriter, you sort of look at them.
14:05
They call them like evergreens, you know, the ones that sort of just...
14:09
And I think every songwriter is always striving to, you know, write a song that sort of just becomes, falls into that pocket, you know.
14:16
God only knows, you know, yesterday.
