MSI Afterburner

And another app to download for you is MSI Afterburner.

You can control your fan speeds from it and turn them up, turn them down.

So things like your GPU clock speeds, you know, memory clocks, those sorts of things, voltage offsets, but also some of the voltages and power targets and all that sort of thing.

So similar to what utilities like MSI Afterburner can do, but potentially a bit more control over individual things.

And the interface, which just has a whole bunch of dials and controls for people, you know, it's designed to be this sort of easy to use interface, simple for people to adjust these settings so they can go about doing overclocking in a more straightforward way.

the release version 0.36 it added what was claimed to be power limits for the gpu core and memory so previously if you were overclocking nvidia gpus you can adjust power targets for these things you can adjust some of the voltage offsets but you can't just set whatever you want there's often limits you can't just make your 300 watt gpu a 600 watt gpu by changing the limit at a low level, there's kind of, you know, each GPU, is it still the case that each AIB model has like a different final power limit for each GPU and that sort of thing? Yeah.

So essentially this mVolt plus utility version 0.36, there was some hype, I guess, maybe a limited amount of hype about its ability to supposedly change those power limits properly.

So not just up to the limit of the BIOS, but potentially further than that, giving you a bit more control.

However, Unwinder, who's the developer of MSI Afterburner, in a discussion about this on, I think it was the Overclock forums, he revealed that those power limits, not actually power limits, but the overcurrent limits.

So when you were setting, say, 480 watts in this mVolt plus utility, you weren't setting 480 watts, you were setting 480 amps as the overcurrent limit.
