Ms. Darbus

Anyway! The auditions for the Winter Musicale are only really the catalyst for a story about Troy and Gabriella being true to themselves in spite of what the communities around them, the other students, are telling them what to do.

Even Troy's basketball coach father and his faculty rival, the vivacious drama teacher, Miss Darbus.

Meanwhile, for the movie musical experts among you, if being true to yourselves no matter what your friends say sounds a little familiar, especially in a high school setting, it might be because the screenplay for High School Musical is said to have originated as the outline for an unproduced Grease 3 in the 90s.

And not unlike Grease, which originated on stage and was adapted for the screen before being brought back to the stage and updated in a way to better resemble the famous film, High School Musical on stage bears a great many similarities to the movie upon which it is based, but there are also some differences.

She originally played Martha, one of the characters in The Cafeteria.

the one who likes to pop and lock and jam and break and whatever else.

Now she is playing the unforgettable Miss Darbus and she is doing an uncanny job.

She is fantastic in this role.

They had Alicia Rulon as Kelsey Nielsen, Chris Warren Jr. as Zeke, and Casey Stroh as Martha.

Now, for those people who don't know, and if you don't, have you been living under a rock? Casey Stroh is, of course, in your production of High School Musical, playing Miss Darbus.

which is fantastic casting.

When I saw that announced, I was like, this is perfect casting.

As Chad, they had Shaquem Evans.

As Taylor, they had Shalonda Lacombe.

And as Miss Darbus, they had Ellen Harvey, who again is a big, big Broadway star.

Yeah.

It's like old movies.

Yes, or as someone said in the comments of my TikTok, Brooke was giving Miss Darbus.

Like, Danielle-

Oh

I need more of this, brava.

Yeah, especially in this poncho, I really am-

You are giving Miss Darbus-

I'm literally like-

Justice for that song.

And this is the point when I learned the actress who plays Cassie was, would then go on to play Mrs. Darbus in High School Musical [laughs].

[laughs]

And I texted Grace.

And we both lost our ever-loving minds

Lost our fucking minds.

Mrs. Darbus is Cassie? Incredible.

Now we get to, and this is gonna be a trigger warning, and there's a couple of things, so I'll probably put this at the beginning-
