Mrs. Norris

They must, well, they kind of seen it because then they would have been petrified, right? So I don't know how the rumor mill works around Hogwarts that the spiders found out about the basilisk.

Also, okay, so the basilisk attacks Mrs. Norris in a hallway and NHN and JFF and Hermione and Penelope Clearwater.

And so they're getting petrified because they look at the basilisk, but not directly, right?

Uh...

I mean, I had a lot of Harry Potter.

I had Filch's cat, Mrs. Norris.

And then I also had...

Yeah, I think the only other one was the one you mentioned, the bulldog that we didn't pick.

And then they hear a door slam.

So Filch had been manning his usual lookout post, which is the spot where Mrs. Norris had been attacked, which is where all the flooded water is because that's where the bathroom is, Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, or just Myrtle's bathroom.

Again, it's crazy that they made that their HQ when it's an area that Filch is always manning, you know, standing by.

That doesn't make sense to me.

What?

Mrs. Norris.

Yeah.

Yeah, of course.

He had been in the Mediterranean, in the West Indies, in the Mediterranean again, had been often taken on shore by favour of his captain, and in the course of seven years had known every variety of danger which sea and war together could offer.

With such means in his power, he had a right to be listened to, and though Mrs Norris could fidget about the room and disturb everybody in quest of two needlefuls of thread or a second-hand shirt button in the midst of her nephew's account of a shipwreck or an engagement, everybody else was attentive.

And even Lady Bertram could not hear of such horrors unmoved, or without sometimes lifting her eyes from her work to say, Dear me, how disagreeable! I wonder anybody can ever go to sea.

To Henry Crawford they gave a different feeling.

A labeled dot on the top left corner showed that Professor Dumbledore was pacing in a study.

The caretaker's cat, Mrs. Norris, was prowling the second floor.

And Peeves the poltergeist was currently bouncing around the trophy room.

And as Harry's eyes traveled up and down the familiar corridors, he noticed something else.

They left the room, both smirking in a satisfied sort of way.

Harry stood there gazing at the miraculous map.

He watched the tiny ink Mrs. Norris turn left and pause to sniff.

that's something on the floor if filch really didn't know he wouldn't have to pass the mentors at all but even as he stood there flooded with excitement something harry had once heard mr weasley say came floating out of his memory never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain
